Lisa Parisot

I studied journalism at the University of Missouri in the late 1970’s.  I had the good fortune to learn from wonderful professors who shared their experiences “in the trenches” with eager students.  Leigh Wilson, Dick Nelson, Mackie Morris, Max Utsler and of course, Dave Dugan.

I began my career as a TV news photographer/ editor at KOCO – TV, the ABC affiliate in Oklahoma City in 1978. I worked at KTVY(now KFOR) in OKC and then moved to Dallas with my husband and fellow news photographer, Paul Parisot in the summer of 1981.  I worked at KDFW-TV for a short time, then settled in at WFAA-TV News in 1982.  I shot and edited news stories, produced news stories, wrote and produced series segments.

I left WFAA in 1989 to spend time raising our two kids, but continued to work with Channel 8 as a freelance producer, writer and photographer/editor.  In 1998, I wrote and produced a documentary for the Dallas PBS affiliate KERA called Child Safety: It’s No Accident.

And in 2002, I began Reel Reflections, my video production company specializing in creating digital video life stories for families interested in preserving their personal histories for relatives.

I earned my Masters in Mass Communications from TCU in 1987. I taught visual storytelling courses at the University of North Texas in the Department of Journalism from 2006 through the spring of 2009.  I joined the faculty at the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University in the fall of 2009 where I taught Enterprise Reporting in Diverse Neighborhoods and a course in the graduate program.

I returned to north Texas in the winter of 2010. I continue to work and study visual storytelling offering clients the chance to get their message to their customers using audio, video and photographs.
